CHOZEN Yasi Sandalwood - Santalum yasi essential oil is cultivated in Fiji as a village based enterprise. It typically contains more than 60% a- + ß-santalol, making it chemically similar to Santalum album. Their fragrances are similar too, both having a soft, sweet, woody and balsamic character.

Plant Description: A small to medium sized evergreen tree, up to 20 ft. high and trunk 6-13 inches (12 - 22cm) in diameter, with rough fibrous bark, opposite, leathery leaves and dark brown heartwood.

Farming Method:

  • Cultivated on the island of FIJI.
  • Like most species of the genus Santalum, Santalum yasi is a root parasite, tapping the roots of other species for water and inorganic nutrients.
  • The trees must be 30 years old before oil production becomes viable and even then the yield is not more than 5%.

  • Pale yellow to bright golden


  • Enchanting, extremely soft, sweet-woody and delicately animal-balsamic transportive fragrance
  • Medium intensity odour (5 on a scale of 1-10). The scent has a dominant woody and floral note, with back notes of fruit, citrus and spice. Used as an exciting perfume addition.
  • CHOZEN Yasi Sandalwood Essential Oil has a very high α-santalol + ß-santalol content making it most similar in fragrance to the once trusted Mysore Sandalwood (Santalum album) essential oil from India.
